I’m addicted to smoothies!
Last month I was seeing quite a few recipes on smoothies. Such a simple pleasure, yet I never made them. I never really ever bought them either even though there is a plethora of different smoothie shops out there.
There has been so many great deals on fruit I thought I’m going to make them at home and since last month I think I’ve been making them at least 4 – 5 days a week! I can’t seem to get enough! I’ve probably had the most fruit in a month then I have eaten in six months, maybe a year!
The recipe is simple. All you need is:
1 cup of almond milk (I use vanilla) per serving.
1 container (single serving) yogurt (again I use vanilla, any flavor would do)
Fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, peaches, whatever you fancy)
Cut up and freeze all the fruit. Strawberries & bananas are sliced and peaches peeled and then sliced.
Flash freeze on a cookie sheet for a couple of hours and then transfer to a freezer bag until ready to use. I have an express freeze option on my fridge which I never even used until now.
When you are ready to make just add the milk, yogurt and fruit of choice into your blender. Add the fruit a little at a time because if not you might get chunks that don’t blend all the way.
I like to use the strawberries, blueberries and bananas. My daughter likes peaches and canned pineapple.
Be careful when using the banana though because it will overpower the other fruits, so less is more for them.
When using the frozen fruit, you really don’t even need to use ice, unless you want to as the smoothies will come out thick & yummy!
The possibilities are endless and so much cheaper than driving to the smoothie shop.
