Walgreens Trip 04/30/12
Went to Walgreens since I had an RR that was going to expire and I think this may be my last trip for awhile unless they have a really
good great deal I just can’t pass up.
For some reason, I almost always have issues there. Either the coupons won’t scan (meaning the scanner won’t read them), they don’t have the product in stock or coupons don’t add up correctly. It’s just too stressful to try to coupon there. When I first started to coupon, Walgreens was my store of choice because it is the closest to my home and I really stocked up, but now I just don’t think it’s worth it.
Here’s what occurred on this trip.
When I arrived at the register I asked about the free first aid case they were advertising because I was purchasing two of the items noted. The cashier knew nothing of it and called for a manager.
In the meantime, he rang up the rest of my order. I was going to purchase another One Touch Ultra Mini since I had my manufacturer coupon and a Walgreens coupon for the same so it would have been free. I added in some envelopes to make sure I had the correct number of items vs the number of coupons I was using. Well… when it came to scanning the Walgreens coupon it wouldn’t work.
When the manager (assistant) came up he checked the ad for the free first aid case and he did not know anything about it either. I was originally purchasing two items that rang up at $2.99 ea. He told me because of the 50% off, the free case would not apply since I was paying under $2.00 for one of the items. I’m not sure if that is correct, but I didn’t really want to deal with it so I said that’s fine, I will just purchase two more of the same items. We went to pick up the extra two items and to see if we could locate the free case. We found a case, but we were not sure if it was the correct one because it didn’t look like the one in the picture. He told me that he would take my name and number and look into it and give me a call tomorrow which I said would be fine. He continued to ring up my items and when it came to the coupons, of course they wouldn’t scan. I had four of the same and he had to read each one and each item to make sure I was purchasing the correct items. I let him know they were for J&J Red Cross Product which he finally agreed. Then he came to the Walgreens coupon again for the One Touch Ultra Mini and of course. He told me it was because you are not able to use two coupons on one item. I kindly explained that you should be able to use a manufacturer and a Walgreens coupon on the same item, but he told me that he did not think that was correct. I told him never mind, I can get it at CVS for free, so I left that item off. I just wanted to get out of there. It was taking so long and I was so embarrassed. It’s not even summer yet, but I could feel the sweat dripping off my forehead.
In the end, here is what I walked out with.
- 2 – Johnson & Johnson Red Cross gauze pads, small 10 ct $2.99 & $1.49
- 2 – Johnson & Johnson Red Cross waterproof tape $2.99 & $1.49
- 1 – Scotch clasp envelopes 8 ct $0.99
- 4 – $1.00/1 Johnson & Johnson Red Cross product
- 1 – $1.50 RR
*Retail Value before sale prices, coupons and w/o tax $14.95
After reviewing The Krazy Coupon Lady’s post about this I really don’t think I had to buy the extra first aid supplies, but like I said, I just wanted to get out of there. It took forever at the register and it just felt like a total wasted trip.
Never again Walgreens! Well… unless you have that one GREAT deal I just can’t pass up!
Anyone else ever have issues here?
