Weekend Wrap Up – Movie, shop & cook!

What a great weekend I had.

Friday, went to the movies and saw Mission Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol.  I didn’t even realize there were three movies prior and not even quite sure I’ve seen them all but I’m pretty sure I have seen at least two of them.  I thought this movie was great.  It had action, comedy, drama all in one.  I would definitely recommend it.

Since I have made it my goal to try out one new recipe a week, I’ve been eyeing some items at Sur la table that I thought might make my goal a little easier.  At least that’s my excuse!  🙂  So on Saturday I decided to visit their store and see if they had the items I was eyeing in stock.  I was so happy that they had everything I was looking for and to find out that they honor the same pricing at their stores that they do online.  I know some stores may have online specials but then when you find them at the store the pricing is not the same.

I picked up a marble pastry board, some cookie sheets that came with a cooling rack and some measuring spoons.  The measuring spoons I had were so old and somehow I was missing some sizes.  I think I only have the tablespoon and teaspoon.  Not sure what happened to the others, but oh well, I have a new set now!

Right now they are having a winter sale so if you have never heard of them now would the time to check them out.  They have many different items to choose from like cookware, bakeware, dinnerware and everything in between.  They are kind of like another store I love, Williams-Sonoma, but at a smaller scale store wise.  At least based on the stores I have near me.

Saturday, I also tried my first new recipe: Soft and Chewy Homemade Bagels by life blessons.  My bagels didn’t come out quite as nice looking as the ones shown in the recipe, but they will definitely be a keeper.  Everyone is already asking when I would be making more.  I made some plain and some I added minced garlic to the tops which I have to say were my favorite.  These were yummy!

Here is how my bagels turned out with my new marble pastry board.  They just weren’t as poofy as I was hoping, but still like I said previously, they are a keeper.  I think next time, I may not roll them out and might just try to form the bagels by hand.  We’ll see.

This week I’m going to try making english muffins.  Hopefully these will turn out as good as they look.

Have a great week!
